Closing Reception for Relics

Relics of The New World

Cassel Gallery and Goorin Bros. Hat Company are proud to host the closing reception of 'Relics of the New World', an exhibition featuring Lucien Shapiro, along with supporting artists: Henry Lewis, Lango Olivera, Charlie O'Hanlon, and Shelby Ulibarri. Relics challenges the fate of forgotten things in a world of excess, and breathes new life into discarded and found objects.

You are invited to this small private event due to your shown interest in this exhibition and/or one's in the past. We encourage you to also invite other like minded art enthusiasts to join us in celebrating the closing of this amazing exhibit and installation.

John Casey

A Show of Heads, Providing Set and Scenery of Artistic Vision; Figurative Sculpture, Drawings, Installations, Sculpture, Mural and Traditional Artworks.

John Casey, has begun to reveal a more experimental process in his works. Allowing his process to be revealed we find a more soulful approach through blending of graphite and ink. In turn, by his intentional use of 'mistakes' we find the work’s story filled with motion. His depth and exploration of process, alongside of his commitment to the East Bay earned Casey Artist of the Year 2012 award [EBX]. This will be his first chance since being awarded to show a large body of his newest series. Through his use of installation based sets, Casey will be presenting his signature concept of "bio-morphology," a phenomenon that occurs in his alternative universe where people's physiques morph based on their emotional and psychological states of mind. We feel like this show is a pivotal step for John in his career, into a denser and lush use of new mediums.

East Bay's Lucien Shapiro comes to LeQuiVive Gallery fresh from his Relics of the New World showcase; showing work that examined life and the presence of death. Expanding on those concepts, Shapiro's masks and sculptures and other imaginative objects are purposefully created of waste items including bottle caps, discarded plastic drug bags, and various media set upon casts and sculpted forms. Lucien expands his work path into a more extravagant delivery and magnitude. These works contain some of the largest Lucien has brought to life thus far.

Recently featured in Juxtapose Erotica, Brian Robertson, brings a fresh new look at pattern, terrain, painting, and collage. Robertson gives tightly painted patterns and various geometric shapes allowing the viewer to place new landscapes in the depth of the figure. Through visual metaphor and form, Robertson's work provides a snapshot to existence, the conscience and sub-conscience. The oddly shaped figures provide a relation to the viewer, to step in and find that degree of self-referential of humor, sexuality, and mystery.
